If you are the proud owner of a Verizon HTC Incredible, congratulations you own one of the best phones, as of Nov 2010. While not perfect, (yet) this phone and other products you buy, comes with a bit of an annoyance, a popup ad. You may have seen this, when you sync your Verizon HTC Incredible, with your Windows computer. A new browser window opens up, and plays a video with sound.
To solve this, or really get around this easily, put the pop up link from Verizon, in a restricted zone. To do this in Internet Explorer, follow the steps below:
1. Open IE
2. Click on the Tools Menu on top
3. Click on Internet Options
4. Click on the Security Tab, then Restricted Sites (Red Circle)
5. Then click the button Sites, just below red circle
6. Type or paste the link that pops up, then click add. Make sure it shows up on list.
7. If done correctly, when you connect the phone to your computer, the browser window will open, but nothing will happen.
If at some point you would like to visit the blocked site, simply undo these changes.

Windows XP Side by Side Windows, just like Windows 7
We've all seen the TV ad. With Windows 7, you can have two windows, side by side, on your screen. Guess what? I have been showing people this since Windows XP came out many years ago. Here is how to display 2 windows, side by side, either Horizontally or Vetically:
Open window number 1.
Open window number 2. This window should be the top window, or in other words, the active window.
On the taskbar below (where the clock and START button are on) find window number 1, which should NOT be the active window, and RIGHT CLICK the taskbar WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE CTRL key, and select TILE HORIZONTALLY or TILE VERTICALLY from the pop window.
DONE!
These and many other helpful tips are always available from Northern Instrument!

Fake Virus Popup
Northern Instrument has recieved several calls in the last year, with people saying they have a popup screen on the desktop, saying "they have 15 viruses, click here to pay and fix it".
This is a SCAM. If you give the company your credit card, they will steal your money! If you can't get rid of the popup, your computer may be infected with malware. Give Northern Instrument a call today and let us remove it from your system.
